September 30, 2026 / Mindrift

Generated images will be kept for no more than seven days.

On October 20, we’re changing the default retention period for images hosted by Mindrift. Images will expire automatically, even when a request doesn’t include a ttl value.

7

days maximum

Effective October 20, 2026

What’s changing

Today, an image generated through the Mindrift API can remain hosted indefinitely when the request omits ttl. Starting October 20, 2026, Mindrift-hosted images will expire within seven days of generation, whether or not ttl is provided. A shorter lifetime requested through ttl will still apply.

Until October 20

Without a ttl, hosted images have no automatic expiry.

From October 20

Every hosted image expires within seven days. A shorter requested lifetime expires sooner.

What you should do

If your workflow depends on a Mindrift-hosted image URL, download the image or copy it to storage you control before it expires. Update any jobs that expect those URLs to remain available for more than seven days.

You can continue using ttl to request an earlier expiry for an individual generation. It will not extend hosted storage beyond the seven-day limit.

What this covers

This change applies to image files hosted by Mindrift. Third-party models may handle prompts and inputs under their own privacy and retention terms; Mindrift does not control those provider policies. Other account and security data follow their separate retention periods, described in our Privacy Policy.
